Natural & Healthy Places to Shop & Eat Near Stevens Point, Wisconsin

Let's be real, Wisconsin isn't known for its health and supplement scene. When most people think of our state, their heads fill with vivid imagery of cows, cheese, and drinking. This is fair. But as it turns out, Stevens Point, Wisconsin (and surrounding areas), actually has quite a few places worth visiting that favor natural and organic products.

In this article, I'm going to talk about my favorite places in the Stevens Point Area to eat, drink coffee, and shop for groceries, supplements, and even pets!

Grocery & Supplements

Nutrition Discount Center (NDC)

NDC is Stevens Points non-corporate version of a Sprouts or Natural Grocers. It's my favorite place to shop for supplmenets in town because they have a pretty good selection. But if you can't find what you're looking for, they will order it for you.

At NDC, you'll find:

• Organic produce and dairy products

• Grass-fed and organic meats

• Protein and collagen powders

• Natural health and beauty items

• Smoothie bar

• TONS of vitamins and supplements

I also love some of the very unique products NDC carries that you won't find anywhere else in town, like shilajit honey and mocha mushroom coffee mix.

Stevens Point Area Co-op (SPAC)

The SPAC has been a beloved staple of Stevens Point since 1972, and resides in a charming, historic building that was once a Polish dance hall. It has self-serve herbs and spices, seasonal produce, and grocery items from local farms and producers.

While NDC feels more like a grocery store, the Co-op is like a year-round farmer's market with tons of products from local producers. It also has sections for natural cleaners and household items, skin care, hair care, and supplements.

A cool feature of the Co-op is that the staff will special order products for you, and you can order in bulk. You don't get that kind of service at Walmart.

Here are some of my favorite items from the Co-op:

• Jake's Honey

• Produce Point Greens

• Local maple syrup

• Bees wax candles

Lastly, Earthcrust Bakery, which lives inside SPAC, offers a variety of homemade goods, such as bread, muffins, cookies, biscuits, and more. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for! They're soft, chewy, and made with only the best ingredients.

General Stores

Process

Straying away from grocery stores in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, you can think of Process as a cozy, quaint general store. They have a little bit of everything: kitchen items, plants, body care, makeup, fragrances, camping items, arts and crafts, candles, tinctures, and more.

Process is known for its extensive refillery, which offers cleaners, detergents, soaps, shampoo, and conditioners. But it even offers unique refillable products like dry shampoo, bath salts, hair spray, lotion, and toothpaste tablets.

This store is the perfect place to find thoughtful, natural gifts for your loved ones. A few of my favorites include:

• Elate Mascara

• Magnesium body balm

• Tallow balm

Food & Coffee

Main Grain Bakery & Eatery

Main Grain doubles as a bakery and eatery, with all their sweets and breads baked from scratch in house. They produce hand-shaped sourdough bread, artisanal sandwiches, soup, salads, and sweet treats. They also have a small market where you'll find a modest selection

of candles, socks, skin care, fragrances, and food items.

But let me tell you, Main Grain's food is top tier. The sandwiches are unlike any others in town and are often made with locally sourced ingredients and topped with specialty items like tapenades and house-made aiolis.

My favorite thing to get at Main Grain is their asiago thyme sourdough. I mean, that's if it isn't sold out already, which it usually is by noon. This is the type of bread you don't have to feel bad for indulging in because it's made with the simplest, natural ingredients. They also have a large variety of sweet treats ranging from cheesecake and cupcakes to cookies and scones.

If you're going to visit anywhere in Stevens Point, make it this place.

Ruby Coffee

Coffee is one of my favorite things in the world, so don't take this advice lightly. I'm actually kind of a coffee snob. I want it to be delicious but without artifical sweeteners and syrups that contain questionable ingredients.

Ruby coffee is my favorite—the beans are roasted in Nelsonville, just 20ish minutes away and all of their syrups are made in house. They also offer an almost

100% organic breakfast and lunch menu, with much of

their product sourced locally.

Must-haves from Ruby:
