When most people think of Wisconsin, health and supplements aren't the first thing that pops into their heads. But as it turns out, we actually have quite a few hidden gems in the area.
You can buy pretty much any supplement online, and most conventional grocery stores have a "health" aisle. But I prefer to support local whenever I can, especially when it comes to locally owned stores where people dedicate their lives to providing their community with healthier options.
In this article, I'm going to shout out some of my favorite places to buy supplements, organic/local foods, and natural body care and makeup products.
Whether you're brand new to the wellness scene or just looking for some new places to shop, keep reading. This blog is for you!

Nutrition Discount Center (NDC)
NDC is pretty much a small-scale natural pharmacy, and my favorite place in the area to shop for vitamins and supplements. They have a large inventory, and if you can't find what you're looking for, they're happy to order it for you.
The store doubles as a grocery store, offering quite a range of natural and organic food items for such a small building. Speaking of, they're actually planning to move to a larger building soon. I can't wait to see what else they'll offer.
At NDC, you'll find:
Organic produce and dairy products
Grass-fed and organic meats
Protein and collagen powders
Natural health and beauty items
Kombucha, olive oil, and vinegar on tap
TONS of vitamins and supplements
I also love some of the very unique products NDC carries that you won't find anywhere else in town, like shilajit honey and mocha mushroom coffee mix.
Stevens Point Area Co-op (SPAC)

The SPAC has been a beloved staple of Stevens Point since 1972, and resides in an adorable, historic building that was once a Polish dance hall. It has self-serve herbs and spices, seasonal produce, and grocery items from local farms and producers.
Another cool feature of the Co-op is that they will specially order products for you, and you can order in bulk. Pretty sure you won't get that kind of service at Walmart.
While NDC is my favorite place for supplements, SPAC is my go-to for groceries and body care items. I even like to make little gift baskets out of my favorite products, like lotions, soaps, chocolates, and little trinkets.
Here are some of my favorite items from the Co-op:
Grandpa Soap Pine Tar Shampoo & Conditioner
Dr. Bronner's Lip Balm & Castille Soap
Good Earth Lotion Bar
BWC Mascara
Navita Cacao Powder
Simple Mills Crackers
Jakek's Honey
Siggi's Yogurt
Lastly, Earthcrust Bakery, which lives inside SPAC, is a local favorite and offers a variety of homemade goods, such as bread, muffins, cookies, biscuits, and more. The chocolate chip cookies are to die for! They're soft, chewy, and made with only the best ingredients.
Process General Store

Straying away from grocery stores in Stevens Point, you can think of Process as a cozy, quaint general store. They have a little bit of everything: kitchen items, plants, body care, makeup, fragrances, camping items, arts and crafts, candles, tinctures, and more.
Process is known for its extensive refillery, which offers cleaners, detergents, soaps, shampoo, and conditioners. But it even offers unique refillable products like dry shampoo, bath salts, hair spray, lotion, and toothpaste tablets.
This store is the perfect place to find thoughtful, healthy gifts for your loved ones. A few of my favorites include:
Incense
Candles and candle holders
Fragrance rollers
Elate Mascara
Magnesium body balm
Wausau Wellness Center

While I've only just discovered this little gem of a store, the Wausau Wellness Center immediately became a new routine stop whenever I'm in the area. Think holistic clinic meets supplement + grocery store. They offer naturopathic consulting, acupuncture, and chiropractic services.
The Wellness Center has a massive and unique selection of supplements, and they even provide a brochure to educate customers on how to use some of their key products.
The cherry on top is that they have a coffee and smoothie bar WITH protein, herbal, and supplemental add-ins.
Downtown Grocery

Downtown Grocery is located in Wausau, Wisconsin, and is known within the community for being an everyday farmers' market. They carry loads of local produce and have a self-serve food bar, along with many grab-and-go options. They even have a cozy loft (WITH WIFI) overlooking the market.
Downtown Grocery's Bakeshop offers sweet and savory homemade baked goods. The ginger cookies and fudgy brownies are a must every time I go!
So, next time you're heading out to go grocery shopping, buy a gift, or just doing some self-care spending, consider checking out one of these stores!
